Fashion is the freedom to be visible, expressive, elegant, loud, soft, radical and refined on one’s own terms. Black fashion is both armor and celebration. A living testament of Black life, culture and possibility. Black fashion is a deliberate use of style to claim dignity, creativity and power in a world that has often tried to deny all three.

The Black Fashion Calendar project is a personal homage to Black fashion through storytelling and community. Curated by Lift Every Vote And Rise Communications Director, Kishana Holland- the images reflect survival, resistance,joy and imagination. From tailored suits worn to demand respect during the Civil Rights Movement, to afros and dashikis declaring cultural pride. Our style has become our distinctive language. It communicates identity before a word is spoken. Constantly evolving yet deeply rooted, Black fashion remains a powerful archive of Black life. Black fashion is expressive, influential, political, and unapologetically creative. It’s a symbol of resilience that is rooted in culture and defined by confidence.
